I'm with Austin. Email marketing, for the most part, has not been harnessed to its full potential. But the blogosphere is so vast, how do I know what's legitimate and what's not? I pasted an email below that I received this morning, and would appreciate any guidance about it:

Good Day To You My Gullible Friend.

It is understandable that you might think this is real, but I have a lucrative business proposal of mutual interest, under false pretense, to share with you. I was referenced to you by no one after rigorous searching for someone who suits my proposed fantasy business relationship.

I am Mr. P. Again Stwind a South Korean resident, happily married with more children than I want, and I am a Director of Sing Song Bank Ltd, in charge of the Hong Kong International Bloggy Guidelines Department. I have a confidential business blog suggestion for you. I will need you to link to my Hong Kong business project blog from your blog. It involves the transfer of a large sum of link juice. Everything concerning this reciprocal blog link shall be legally done without hitch. Please endeavor to observe the utmost discretion attainable in all matters concerning this unique relationship dynamic.

Once the links have been successfully exchanged and put into affect, we shall share in the link juice booty ratio to be agreed upon by both of us. I will then prefer that you reach me on my private email address below (pagainstwind@yahoo.com.hk) and finally after that I shall furnish you with a certified pre-owned Lexus. Should you be interested, please forward the following to me urgently:

1. Blog Address
2. Desired Anchor Text
3. Social Security Number
4. Favorite Color (for Lexus)

Please, if you are disinterested, delete this email and do not haunt me with threatenous emails because I am putting my career livelihood at stake, and do not want to put my family on Ebay with this adventure. Although nothing adventured is nothing gained.

Your earliest response to this letter will be appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Mr.P Agains Stwind
Sing Song Bank Limited
Hong Kong {In Asia}
Email: pagainstwind@yahoo.com.hk

Is there any chance that this is bogus?

Hi Kenny--thanks for the write-up.

I can't find your email, so this will have to serve as the "further instructions" I promised.

For now, I'll be communicating through my blog until I can get a dedicated site organized.

So the best way to stay in the loop at this point is probably through my site's RSS feed.

Thanks again and see you around.

Kenny - Sounds good. but I've got a better idea.
"How to get more people to read your blog" by Austin"

Hello Friends:

This blog post will bring good luck, but only if you pass it on. Lots of people have already done this and subsequently had successful blogs! All you have to do is follow the instructions below.

First: make a blog post called "How to get more people to read your blog"
Second: Copy and paste these instructions as the content.
Third: Pass the link on to 25 people

And that's it. Oh, I forgot to mention: IF you don't pass it on, something very terribly might happen. One guy didn't pass it on and his blog got black listed from Google. Now make a wish!
.
.
.
Are you thinking of it?
.
.
.
It will come true if you pass this on to 80 friends instead of just 25!
.
.
and you will find true love and become rich!
.
.
HAHAHA

Remember chain letters? Then email chain letters?
Now it's chain blogs! Woohoo!

Actually, I guess this is more like a book club - a blog club perhaps.
Does that mean if I read the blog of the week, I will get a personal pan pizza coupon? :)
